What are you eating in January? (Not a diet thread!)

This week has been about using up the last of the Christmas leftovers... cheese and potato pie (made with mash not pastry, quite a Midlands dish I think) leftover salmon baked (not sure what with) a treat of a charlie bighams chicken tikka massala and some oven chips, pork belly, mash and gravy, bacon sandwiches, porridge, leftover chocolates and mince pies, tomato soup and French onion soup and a leftover Deli sandwich so far.

When I shop at the end of the week I'd like to eat more seasonally this year so will be getting some apples, pears, cavalo nero and purple sprouting brocoli.

In January I'd like to make a nice shephards pie, lentil bolognaise and I have a gift of some Italian cuttlefish spaghetti that I have no idea what to do with!

I also want to try a rice dish from my ottolenghi cookbook.

I'd like to make lunches really quick and nutritional - homemade soups and omelette with loads of veg.

Tell me all what your January food will look like If you like, would love to hear.

I’ve been vegetarian for a couple of months and have had too great a reliance on mock meats so will be trying to eat a fabulous Mediterranean inspired vegetarian life. So today I have a warm butter bean and red pepper salad with green herbs and sour dough bread. I feel like my body is craving it!

Also I plan to make up a radish, cucumber, tomato and parsley salad and have that for lunches with boiled eggs as my lunches. Breakfasts I am slightly obsessed with various nut butters and crumpets.

Christmas chocolate and biscuits, mostly. And cheese. Lots of cheese.
