A "what should I make with this?" thread

I'm clearing out the pantry and came across this. No idea when I bought it but it's still in date.

The "vinaigrette" puts me off and I'm not sure what to use it for! Any ideas? Work lunches preferably.

Post yours too! 😃

With that, I would always do a tuna salad. Nothing fancy! But nice tinned Tuna Steak, vine tomatoes, cooked and cooled green beans, new potatoes, boiled eggs.

Wolfcub · 03/01/2026 14:06

Rinse it and make chilli

I've got some Wensleydale with cranberries, any ideas? It's the cranberries that have me stumped!

Photodrinktv123 · 03/01/2026 14:11

I'd either since and make a rice and bean bourito or chilli.
If you didn't want to rince I'd probably do a tuna salad.

Drain but don’t rinse and make this
One-Pan Bean & Sausage Traybake
Roast with:

  • Cherry tomatoes
  • garlic cloves
  • strips of red pepper
  • Red onion
  • Smoked paprika
  • Sausages (or veggie sausages)
Grumplechops · 03/01/2026 14:31

@tootiredtobeinspired I had the last of our Wensleydale and cranberry crumbled in a rocket, avocado and pear salad with some balsamic Vinegrette

Stuff some into chicken breasts, wrap with bacon and bake in the oven.

Make it into a salad? Cous cous, cucumber, tomatoes, feta, beetroot. Or use rice instead of cous cous.

Great thread OP! No suggestions from me I’m afraid except as other have said a salad!.

I have a cheese bake (dipping type) and a Brie to use up - no idea what to make was thinking maybe a cheese pie 🥧

littletwinkle · 03/01/2026 18:39

I’ve a whole Camembert, don’t really want to bake it. Ideas welcome please.

I'm going to taste them tomorrow then decide whether to rinse or not. Leaning towards this though! 🤩

@littletwinkle and @TwinklyRoseTurtle I'd make quiche and chop bits of the cheese into it - yum!

I use these in chilli as no one likes all red kidney beans

I'm back - picked this up in tesco yesterday and want to use it in my packed lunches this week. I have leftover roast chicken and some salad bits.

Suggestions for what to do with these would be amazing please!

I’ve got lots of Brie left from Xmas. Any suggestions?

Jasmin71 · 25/01/2026 15:45

Lentolognese.

Boil some potatoes in chicken stock and add slices of leeks half way through. Once they're cooked, layer into an ovenproof dish with cooked ham, sliced in a packet works fine if you've no leftover roast ham to hand. Cover the top with slices of the brie, pour over the stock from the potato pan and put under the grill until the cheese is bubbling and starting to brown.

Seaside3 · 25/01/2026 19:53

Just use the lentils in your salad. Drain, rinse, chuck in. Add cucumber, tomatoes, beets, seeds, salad dressing, feta ans chicken.

Or, make soup and add the lentils.

Or make a dahl.

explanationplease · 26/01/2026 11:06

I would add a few croutons for the complete protein.
