Is it ever ok to drink some of yesterday's white wine?

Or is it always "off" the next day?

Had 1 glass out of bottle last night, and could really fancy having one tonight too. Bottle is still in fridge calling to me as I clear up kitchen ... seems a shame to chuck it out, etc etc

It will be fine btw

Flamesparrow · 11/06/2008 19:09

You seriously chuck it after just one day???

Drink it!

Hulababy · 11/06/2008 19:10

Yes, you can definitely drink wine that has been open for a day or two. Keep white wine in te fridge, red wine at room temperature. And ideally put the cork back in or use a stopped, so smells from the fridge don't go into it.

no it's not ok............

You left wine unfinished in the bottle

Seriously - no it's absolutely fine, I often make a bottle of wine stretch a couple of days if I've got it to myself.

ivyJkaty44 · 11/06/2008 19:10

You are lucky to have some left over...

TheBlonde · 11/06/2008 19:10

drink it

we have one of those vacuum stopper things which is supposed to reduce the "going off"

happystory · 11/06/2008 19:10

Are you mad, woman? get it drunk!

(in happystory's house, there is never an unfinished bottle )

paperdoll · 11/06/2008 19:12

SOrry I didn't mean to sound precious, I just remember being told by someone (older man, therefore "expert") that white must Always Be Thrown Away after 1 day, whereas red could stick around. Was hoping that you would all tell me it was bollocks so thank you

Aahhh.

Wine expert lied.

Why do you think there is such a thing as wine stoppers? Do you think bars and restaurants throw out all the opened bottles at the end of the day?

Decent wine will be fine after opening for a few weeks. Not-so-good wine will last a few days, minimum.

Drink it!

Rachmumoftwo · 11/06/2008 19:18

I would drink it all in one go next time, just to be on the safe side

paperdoll · 11/06/2008 19:20

If only I could stay awake long enough I would have done just that.

rubbish wine might taste a bit vinegary if you leave the top off, but just add a bit of lemonade in that case

Soprana · 12/06/2008 20:48

After the first glass you won't notice if it tastes a bit funny.
