Food ideas over New Years

Having a quiet few days off and at home alone after being away for most of December. I’m shopping later today and thought I’d get some nice treats in for grazing during New Years Day, with some nice wine and have a sofa film day! I’m not a fussy eater. Any nice ideas or recipes to share, I love hearing others traditions. Might do a soup or Dahl in the slow cooker and get some cheese in.

We’ve been having a cheeseboard most nights & just topping up with new cheeses. Last night I made Marry me pasta, tonight pasta bolognese in slow cooker then out for lunch tomorrow & will be steak pies for New Year’s Day. Often I do another ham in between with dauphinoise potatoes but not done that yet this year x

I don’t know about grazing- we’ve just been having mince pies, chocolate, various crisps, and crackers with the leftover prawn cocktail!

New Year’s Day I’m making all traditional Scottish things- haggis parcels, steak pie and raspberry cranachan 😋

I've a nice loin of pork in the freezer and will use the last of the veg to serve with it.

Out tomorrow and roll on 2nd when it's back to normal - that's Friday, so fish :)

If it was me home alone, I'd do:
cheese and crackers for lunch times
one night would be Greek salad, falafel, homemade tzatziki and nice flat breads
another night would be a curry, probably mattar paneer plus parathas (the frozen ones from the supermarket)
if there was a third night, it would be quiche, jacket potato, coleslaw and salad

I'd want nice nuts, dates and Revels for snacking, plus posh yoghurt

New Year’s Day is always ham and cabbage for us. So doing a treacle glazed ham, cauliflower cheese, spiced red cabbage and apple, bread sauce (frozen leftover from Christmas) and french beans. That will last us a couple days.

Then it’s just teen dd and I for a few days as Dh and ds going away. Then we’ll just do easy food that isn’t a roast or cheese. Only thing I have in mind so far is sushi.
