Next year if your after a tub of Christmas chocolates, I'd recommend big mix from M&S. Much bigger actual tin, shiny wrappers and much nicer chocolate.

Oh thank you I will definitely try them, this was a gift given to me not on top of my list

After this Christmas, I’m never buying chocolate from these big brands ever again. It’s all slimy, greasy, slop.

Slightyamusedandsilly · 29/12/2025 09:54

I used to love Quality Street. The chocolates themselves are disgusting now.

Why do these brands make such massive changes and make themselves unsaleable? Cadbury's chocolate is the same.

I think this is the first Xmas of my long life that we have not had QS in the house

when I was a kid in the 70s, opening the tin was such an event! Then it was two each, and away again until the next day

Another vote for the big M and S tin here - those QS chocs are all palm oil now - they haven't been nice for a long time.

JPA · 29/12/2025 13:22

They were never that good to begin with, but now they are disgusting. It's all about bulking out because of the price of cocoa. There's no way I'm eating palm oil or any other fat in chocolate other than cocoa butter.

Nestle don’t care about anything but profit. (babymilkaction.org)

They were totally awful. I did have a lovely tray of Dairy Box though.

Are they actually good, would love to know - I decided against as they still have palm oil. Maybe not as much as QS etc.

They have been ropey for years, i didn’t have a single one despite tubs of all the main brands being it out. I spent £7 on ingredients and made several trays of truffles as my contribution

dontmalbeconme · 29/12/2025 13:28

Also loved the M&S Big Mix. So much better than Quality Street.

Kia2025 · 29/12/2025 17:41

I will definitely be trying different chocolates next year. The Hotel chocolate reindeer are lovely with the caramel filling. I normally pick some up in the sale.

We said exact same, QS have gone right down hill. Awful wrappers, all taste same, really bland. Used to be such a family favourite. Will never buy them again.

Greenpeanutsnail · 30/12/2025 10:41

Quality Street were horrible this year. Roses were marginally better.

CrispyK · 30/12/2025 10:53

We got the M&S big mix too. Me & DC like them but DH not keen as they’re mostly soft centres.

SparklingCrow · 05/01/2026 09:57

I bought OH a big box of Monty Bojangles chocolate truffles At Waitrose this year, assuming they’d be good.

Big mistake. Huge.

DaisyChain505 · 05/01/2026 10:00

Me and the other half were tucking into a box we’d been gifted last night. We both remarked on how poor quality they were now and that we wouldn’t be having them again. We then went on to google Quality streets from the 90s and we marvelled over how wonderful they looked and how much we loved them.

These companies are greedy making all the changes they have in the name of profit and hopefully they’ll pay the price.
