I need ham wisdom - Ham for Christmas eve and Christmas day, half boiled half baked?

Hi all. Got a big unsmoked ham.
Ideally I'd like to have some, just boiled to slice, to add to the Christmas eve grazing board.
Then it'll be the main event on Christmas day, baked with a glaze etc. We also have a single turkey breast so we'll all get a couple of slices of that too.
Can I boil the whole thing on Christmas eve, slice some off, then leave it overnight, to glaze and bake the rest the next day?
Is this a bad idea?! Thanks all for your hammy wisdom...

Technically, yes. However, I'd be more inclined to cut off a piece for the boiling only and then cook the other separately. I'd do that because I don't boil for the whole cooking time, I do a vague half and half. Boiling until it's cooked through then roasting may result in a very dry ham.Plus, when you carve the slices, unless you are brilliant and your ham is well behaved, it may end up looking a bit mangled.

Ah thank you, I did wonder about cutting a bit off to boil only... This does sound like a better option, I was worried about the dryness!
Now to work out how/where to cut it...

I do this every year. I slow cook ham in Coca-Cola on Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Day, I glaze what's left with Gordon Ramsay's Christmas maple and mustard ham glaze and warm through in the oven. It's superb.

I would portion it out first, so you don’t overcook it. But personally, I couldn’t be asked with 2 days in a row of boiling a ham.

I’d boil and then glaze/bake the whole thing and just have it cold or re-heated.

I have Ham and turkey on Christmas Day (so mine isn't the main event) but I just make the ham on Christmas Eve exactly as I'd like it (boil and then bake). We have Ham, egg and chips on Christmas eve. I then just microwave it (with some water to create steam) on Christmas Day and it is lovely...
