Baron Bigod
Lid Picos de Europa
an undecided goats (hence the thread)
Some Yorkshire blue
manchego
another cheese (prob an orange one?)
some old Amsterdam

some honey, some membrillo and an onion chutney.

I’ll also do a charcuterie board separately.

It’s not Christmas without comté!

ETA: I always have a cheese with truffles for Christmas too usually a brie, sometimes a gouda. Proper truffle shavings though, nothing “flavoured” or with truffle oil.

Époisse for me.

Mikart · 19/12/2025 17:46

Lord London
Epoisses
Alpine
Manchego
Rock salt cheddar
For 2 of us

soupyspoon · 19/12/2025 17:53

Truffle pecorino and Lord London

To be honest this thread would be never ending with all the cheese suggestions

Hohofortherobbers · 19/12/2025 18:02

Cambozola. Its covers both brie and Stilton for me

mindutopia · 19/12/2025 18:22

Not a cheese, but today I got an amazing medlar and chilli jelly from a local market.

CalzoneOnLegs · 19/12/2025 18:26

The crystals in cheese aren’t salt, they are calcium crystals made in ageing.
I see this misconception too much

soupyspoon · 19/12/2025 18:35

Does cheese suffer from gout then?

I'd best put it out of its misery and eat it

AtleastitsnotMonday · 19/12/2025 18:54

You need good crackers! https://www.ocado.com/products/peter-s-yard-sourdough-cracker-selection-tin/641931011 Peters Yard! Also cocktail gherkins, celery, walnuts, grapes, figs, chilli jam, caramelised onion chutney. (I’m not bothered by the cheese, these are the bits I’m after!)

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 19/12/2025 19:02

Gorgonzola dolce

Etatauri · 19/12/2025 19:05

In addition to cheese and crackers I usually have a selection of....

2-3 chutneys
Breadsticks
Tomatoes on the vine
Grapes on the vine
Dried apricots
Figs or dates
Olives
Mini gherkins
Sliced crusty baguette if there's a camembert
Mixed nuts when possible - candied ones are great
In the summer perhaps strawberries, raspberries or blueberries
And at Christmas...slices of Terry's chocolate orange. Which is very well received!

Then I do crudités usually standing up in glasses dotted about.

A family member is doing the cheese board this year so I'm not sure what's on it, but we always have a truffle cheese and one we call 'ash cheese'- I can't recall the name of it but it has a line of ash in the middle, the bottom cheese is made from the morning milk and the top is from the evening milk. Always some sort of bree and a goats cheese but don't always stick to the same ones, usually have a browse and pick what sounds nice.

We have red onion chutney, quince jelly, truffle honey, caper berries, mini gherkins, grapes and celery as accruements

Inextremis · 19/12/2025 19:27

My one essential (other things are optional) with my cheese is truffle honey.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/12/2025 06:03

Big fat bastard pickled onions - Garners for choice
Good black grapes
Celery
Stokes chilli jam

sashh · 20/12/2025 06:51

I live alone so I don't get to do a cheese board, I might have 2 or 3 in the house.

Has anyone else tried mango chutney with cheese? Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Morbier!

Our new addition at Christmas are dates stuffed with a blue cheese. We usually do Roquefort as my mum isn’t great with cows milk.

gemdrop84 · 20/12/2025 08:23

Part of our Christmas Eve Buffet is the cheese board, which is usually too big a selection for the actual cheese board 😂

Double Gloucester with pickled onion
Cheddar with jalapeno and pepper
Cambazola
Castello brie
Dutch Smoked Cheese
Wensleydale with cranberries
Red Leicester
Mild Cheddar
Tesco sweet tomato and birds eye chilli chutney
An onion and ale chutney
My work colleague's chilli dip which he has just gifted me a jar of 😊
Pickled onions (silver skins and big ones)
Beetroot, crinkled and fresh whole
Pineapple
Grapes
Carrs cracker selection
Ritz crackers
Mix of olives
Honestly, I can't wait!!

Defrostedmariahcarey · 20/12/2025 08:28

Wensleydale!
Sainsbury’s has a Wensleydale with mince pie and it is CHEFS KISS.

FromageTime · 20/12/2025 08:29

From our cheese order -

Manchego
Maroilles Fermier
Langres
Époisses
Étoile de Gâtine
Mini Wigmore
Colston Bassett Stilton
Comté
Brie Dongé
Cheddar
Roquefort Carles

Plus various crackers, various chutneys made by my husband (tomato, fig, plum) and his quince jelly. Grapes and fresh figs.
