Dd has a school party today. She is taking cold sausage rolls/ sausages. Party doesn’t start til 1pm and will be out of fridge from 8am. Is that safe? Will be kept in school bag all day.

No that’s too long. Can the not be sent in a cool bag with an ice pack?

Really? I'd say that's absolutely fine, they have a tonne of salt in!!

Think about traditional bakeries that have all their goods displayed at ambient temperature, they'd be out all day to no ill.

They’ll be fine. My kids have a ‘take a plate of party food day’ and it won’t be in the fridge. No different to packed lunches which don’t go in the fridge.

Weirdly there is a dispensation from the temperature control part of food hygiene laws just for sausage rolls (or anything in pastry!). 24 hours. Thats why greggs can sell them the way they do! So they'll be fiiiine.

It's not weird, sausages are basically cured because of all the salt in them, and pies and similar are essentially 'sealed' in the crust which acts as a minor preservative.

Sausage rolls in bakers etc are sat out on shelf till they are sold that could all day with no refrigeration, and cocktail sausages are preserved i I wouldn't worry, but id you are put them in a separate bag with a cool block if you have 1.
