Ideas for Xmas Eve buffet

There’s not many of us - 3 adults and 1 tween. Me and DH are hosting my best friend who is coming for Christmas Eve but spending Christmas Day alone (by choice!). We’re doing a little buffet tea and some cocktails.

Looking for some ideas of things I can make to make it feel a bit special. Everyone else eats meat but I am a vegetarian.

I'm going to make Nigella’s soy glazed cocktail sausages which I saw recommended on another thread, and I’ve bought some posh crackers and chutney from Waitrose and will get cheese. But otherwise I am stumped!

Squares of pastry pushed lightly down in muffin ti baking tray with cranberry sauce and Brie in.

I saw a fab idea with pizzas with middle cut out with salad arranged around it and a prosciutto’bow’ At the bottom line a wreath (just precut pizza in to slices for easy picking) you could have a meat one and then one using maybe those long sweet red peppers as a veggie one.

cheese and red onion potato skins. Nice to have with the chutney too.

I don’t like buffets of lots of random bits and bobs.

For that reason, I’d go with one of the following:

falafel, hoummus, tsatziki, Greek salad, spinach and feta pie

cheese board with some salad and some veggie sausage rolls, grapes, celery, nuts

pizzas, salad, garlic bread

or something that isn’t a buffet at all!

Antipasti board - Lidl has a good range singly or have a mixed pack. But my go to centre piece is fondue, cheeses, corn flour, white wine and garlic plus I make focaccia.

Filo parcels, you can do different fillings e.g. cream cheese with smoked salmon trimmings or brie with mango chutney.

Maybe some tapas?

Chorizo cooked in red wine, tortilla, meatballs or try olives on cocktail sticks with cheese and cherry tomatoes.
