Veggie pork and stuffing batch?

Renonewb1e · 15/12/2025 18:32

My Dad has requested pork and stuffing batches (rolls) for Xmas eve.
My Mum & sister are vegetarian, could I use jackfruit as a veggie option? Just cook it up in gravy?

if not could someone suggest an alternative :)

If you like jackfruit then go for it. I'd probably just use naice vegetarian sausages to go with the stuffing though.

We used to just have stuffing! But my grandma made it with boiled onions in and extra butter on the teacake Grin

Will the gravy be made with the meat juices? If so it won’t be vegetarian.

i use Richmond meat free sausages to make my stuffing (fresh are better than frozen imo) the skin comes off easily and they have more of a sausage texture which makes a good stuffing. Tbh I would love just the stuffing in a roll with some branston pickle !

Dd is veggie she would just have the stuffing. You could put chestnuts and cranberries in it to make it a bit more exciting.

Jackfruit is an acquired taste. I’d prefer veggie sausages, as others have said. Or maybe some slices of Quorn roast.

Thanks everyone, I've never had jackfruit - I'd just heard it was a great pork alternative, but think I'll find something else (quorn roast is a good shout!)

and yes - the gravy will be veggie for the vegetarians 😂

I’d just ask your family. I could take or leave jackfruit. It’s nice in a curry if done well. I’m not sure I’d want it in a bap. It would be a different flavour and texture and I’m not sure very complementary to stuffing. I’d go with vegetarian sausages. Ask them which ones they like.

@mindutopia thanks, I'll go with the Richmond veggie sausages - I know they like them & I also eat them, so if they don't want them nothing will go to waste :)
