Broken fridge freezer - meal inspo

As someone who enjoys cooking and eating a variety of food, I’m a little put out with my broken fridge freezer which is probably going to take a week or so to get fixed. Just glad I hadn’t started on the Christmas food shop… struggling a bit to come up with dinner ideas, it’s been a mix of ready meals / pasta dishes so far. Looking for some inspiration for healthy (ish) things to cook that don’t involve food items that need to be kept cold. Proving tricky as eat a lot of chicken and fish!

Have you googled to see what’s wrong with your fridge? YouTube is a great resource for fixing things like that. It might be something relatively simple where you can buy a part online and do it yourself. (BTW I have done this myself in the past.)

You don't actually need to use a fridge if you have somewhere cold and you don't store the meat for long. A friend is in a ex council flat that has a 'cold cupboard' because in the 1960s when they were built people did not have fridges.

As a child, if we wanted fish fingers I had to go tot he local shop because we had no freezer.

Egg chips and beans
Beans on toast

Would you consider using tinned fish? Tuna and sweetcorn with a baked potato?

Sardines on toast.

I wat the NZ version of 'Eat well for lest', they made fish cakes with tinned salmon.

Tinned meats.

Corned beef hash

Spam fritters

Hotdogs with onions and maybe mustard.

In my late teens I used to go camping and we lived on tins, I have no idea what they taste like now but I remember meatballs, mince with onions, stews and curry all out of a can.

Shakshuka with some bread.

Ramen with boiled eggs (and spam if you're not opposed to it, I know many are!)

Nigellas minestrone in minutes is pretty good.

Not the healthiest but when we've been camping we always take some of those mattesons smoked sausages.

Sliced up and fried with onions, and potatoes and some spices etc topped with a fried egg on top, maybe some baked beans on the side it's actually really tasty.
Sliced up with a jar of salsa, sweetcorn and a tin of those mixed beans in chilli sauce with pouch of microwave rice added to the pan.
