Best Supermarket Sausages?

Made a Sausage Casserole yesterday with Tesco Pork Sausages, very disappointed in the overall quality.

What supermarket sausage do you consider full of flavour and not cheap tasting please?

Jolly Hog, they still have proper casings instead of the vile alginate muck that so many use instead. I used to prefer Finnebrogues Naked range because they don’t use nitrites, but even they had changed the casings.

I use their ham though ,very nice!!

The Co-Op do Lashford’s sausages. Lashford’s make sausages for pubs and restaurants and the sausages are lush!

They are proper butcher's stashes from the supermarket.

Lashford’s are based in the midlands so not sure if they are available everywhere.

Porky whites
Waits no 1 Cumberland or Lincolnshire
M&S

sausages are one of the things I’m quite happy to be called a food snob about.

LesLavandes · 30/11/2025 14:01

The least processed sausages with the least sodium. Duchy organics chipolatas do not include nasties and they have least salt I have found

tobee · 30/11/2025 14:46

Controversial opinion but I think a lot of sausages have slightly too low a fat content these days. They need a bit of fat included in them for taste.

Me too and those are the ones I like as well - I’m a snob about chickens too

Heck sausages - 97% pork and are very nice

liveforsummer · 30/11/2025 21:33

Tescos finest are lovely. We like the chipolatas the best. The standard range aren’t any good though. Basicant finest range sausage is good. Aldi and Asda are the 2 others we use

senua · 30/11/2025 21:39

I used to like Asda's and Heck but they have both gone weird recently. They are still high meat content but don't have the right texture any more.
I've switched to Jolly Hog.

Disappointed in Mumsnet – we're on page two of the thread and nobody has yet suggested making your own sausages.

Lidl Deluxe sausages are exactly the same as Sainsbury's TTD. Both are made by Cranfield and the only difference in the packaging is the cardboard sleeve. The Lidl Deluxe Toulouse ones mentioned upthread are not, unfortunately, a regular product line so you need to stock up when they have them in.

If you're a fan of Borewors, Lidl sometimes has Hellbent ones although they are quite thin by South African standards. Again, not a regular product but comes round fairly regularly for a week at a time and often with long dates so stock up. Avoid the chakalaka version - it's vile.

Tesco finest are excellent. I don’t buy the standard sausages from any supermarket because it’s always really noticeable.

Interesting @InveterateWineDrinker

Sorry, my post should have said that the Lidl and Sainsbury's sausages are made by Cranswick, not Cranfield.

And I've mistyped boerewors too.

No idea how that happened.

I love the Tesco Finest pork and caramelised onion sausages, they are so tasty and reasonably priced.

Florencesndzebedee · 03/12/2025 19:12

Sainsbury’s Lincolnshire sausages but our local butchers ones are the best.
