No cook canapé ideas!

Hi all,

I have a dinner party in two weeks for my friend’s birthday. The oven and hob will be taken up all day with food for the dinner party but I would like to also serve some canapes for drinks and arrival about an hour or so before dinner. It’s for 22 people (hence all cooking equipment taken).

I only need a couple of ideas. Ideally not on sticks as there will be two dogs on the loose and low tables people might discard sticks on do worry about them getting hold of the sticks (friends dog/house etc).

Other than some kind of smoked salmon on something type canape, my brain is fried.

Please help!

Can marinade the night before as staying at her house.

For that many people you need to be kind to yourself as canapés can take ages to make in large numbers.
Taramasalata on slices of cucumber.
Humus in little shop bought croustades.
mini homemade profiteroles filled with cream cheese mixed with finely chopped and cooked spring onions and mushrooms

Schar gluten free ciabatta rolls, sliced thinly into rounds and baked make good GF bases, and tasty enough that you can make them for everyone

Gluten free pitta bread sliced lengthways and cut into triangles would work too.

Both can be prepared ahead of time and stored in air tight containers

My advice would be to keep the dogs well out of the way. Appreciate it’s not your house but that still the ideal.

Endive/chicon leaves are a good substitute for crackers or bread in canapés, strong enough not to disintegrate or flop.

I’ve done a prawn cocktail mixture spooned into little gem lettuce leaves. They look pretty and fresh. I used the small Atlantic prawns. Cheaper and easier and mix with a bit of yoghurt and mayo, lemon zest and chives. Prep leaves in advance.

Im also on duty for canapés for 8 on Christmas Day. Two GF and one small air fryer available! (Everything needs to be transported too)
