Donnie Brasco pork

I want to resurrect a recipe I used to cook about ten or fifteen years ago, Donnie Brasco style pork from one of the River Cottage books. Will be serving it with roasties, broccoli and carrots and maybe some cheeky apple sauce but I have a veggie to cater for too. What would go nicely with this dish that I can serve alongside for her?

I had to look this up and it looks like it’s an Asian flavoured pork shoulder (ginger, soy sauce, star anise flavours).

You could do a tofu steak or paneer with similar seasoning. But since your sides are pretty traditional ones, I’d go with a vegetable gratin of some sort or a cauliflower cheese or some sort of lentil stuffed mushroom topped with breadcrumbs and cheese. Something filling because your sides aren’t super filling (relying on the pork to be the star of the show).

Sorry yes, It's like a fancy roast pork, not a casserole or anything like that. Cauliflower cheese is a great shout!

I used to make this a lot! Last time I made it, I made Glamorgan sausages for the vegetarians.
