Would a 2-litre saucepan be enough to make soup for one person?

I want to try to make lentil soup using this recipe: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/lentil-soup

I only have a 2-litre saucepan and I am wondering, would this be too small for the recipe even though it would just be for 1 person? The recipe itself is intended for 4 people.

Enjoy this satisfying lentil soup recipe, made with red lentils, carrots and leeks. It's low in calories and fat, and delivers three of your five-a-day

I'd halve all the quantities, otherwise your saucepan will overflow - think about the Archimedes jumping out of the bath thing (did everyone do that at school or just me?)

The recipe as presented calls for two litres of stock - so that would be the full capacity of your saucepan before you’ve added the other ingredients. So, no.

You could of course halve the volume of ingredients, (though soup is generally economical because you can make enough to save and freeze).

I tend to like a large saucepan for soup so I can use my stick blender easily, though that doesn’t apply here.

If you’re interested, you can find a range of lentils on the Hodmedods site, and also a wealth of recipes:

And T K Maxx is brilliant for cut price saucepans.

I'd do 1 lewk ot small onion, 2 carrots, 75g lentils or 1 can of cooked lentils, 1 can of stock. 1 garlic. Id probably put other spices like Paprika etc, and 1 tin of chopped tomatoes, if your saucepan has space. I'd probably add a sick of celery too.
