I was working today and last week had cooked bolognaise put into jars with intention of freezing for baby. One of the jars I had forgotten to freeze and has been in fridge for 8 days. Today he microwaved this and fed it to her! Now I’m panicking what is the chances of food poisoning

If he nuked it til it was really really hot you might get away with it

You’ll be keeping an eye out anyway but I would put money on her being fine.

Allaboutthegirliguess · 12/11/2025 20:38

If it was in a jar and in the fridge it will be absolutely fine. Keep an eye for an upset stomach but I doubt very much there will be any problems.

Don't worry.

By all means look out for gastric symptoms, but please do not worry - chances are she’ll be just fine.

mauvishagain · 12/11/2025 20:40

Well there nothing you can do about it. You'll just have to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

And if it was thoroughly cooked in the first place, chilled quickly in a clean container then blasted in the microwave it may well all be ok.

Try to chill with that thought, you can deal with any tummy upset if it happens - worrying about the possibility won't change anything.

Presumably if it had been furry/mouldy he’d have noticed? And if it wasn’t, chances are that a good blast in the microwave will mean it is fine. Fingers crossed.

Thanks everyone for the fast replies. My mum guilt was out of control worrying that we will have made her sick!! I’ll keep my eye on her overnight 👍 x

If it was for a baby I doubt he’d heat it that much. Saying that I think the baby will be absolutely fine either way

If it was for a baby I would have heated it til it was beyond hot and then cooled it. As I would anything.

My teen ate a sausage roll that had been in his bag on a school trip for 3 days - he was fine - try not to worry
