KefirQuestions

I’m having a tiny brunch gathering this weekend. Just four friends. Plan was simple: offer some homemade kefir, a few fruit toppings, maybe honey, maybe granola. Lovely and calm.
Then I went to the shop.
I am now the proud (confused?) owner of:
• 14 litres of milk
• 3 new jars
• 2 strainers
• 4kg of blueberries
• A giant jar of honey the size of my head
• And enough kefir grains to start a small dairy village
Why did I do this? How much kefir can four adults even drink? Do I need to open a stall? Should I freeze some? Hide some? Donate some?
Please reassure me I’m not the only person who panic-buys like this.

I’ve never made kefir myself. I just buy it ready made. Are you making the thinner kefir drink style and the thicker yogurt style kefir?
It usually lasts a long time, so you’ll probably be ok but sounds like you’ll definitely need to sterilise more jars to give it away.

Aside from that, I don’t think I’d have kefir with a few toppings as the only “brunch”option. I’d be making something more substantial too. Maybe you can do Turkish eggs, or shakshuka and fresh bread too.
Or go down the sweet route and make waffles or pancakes.

You like to panic buy and I like to over cater.

Much as I love before I'm the only person in my family who'd eat/drink it
