What should I add to or serve alongside my soup to make it seem a bit fancier please?
Soup is my tried and tested lettuce pear and pea and is a lovely bright green colour

A chorizo crumb on top?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/11/2025 20:24

Blue cheese croûtons?

BelatrixLestrange · 07/11/2025 20:24

Stilton croutons and some fresh baked sourdough.

Bluemin · 07/11/2025 21:04

Toasted pumpkin seeds, part-baked rolls and butter.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 07/11/2025 21:09

Can we have the recipe please?

jackbenimblejackbequick · 07/11/2025 22:07

Parsnip crisps or croutons as suggested

Jellybean23 · 07/11/2025 22:13

Drizzle a little cream into the soup and swirl it to make a pattern. Garnish with a sprig og watercress.

There isn't one I'm afraid. We were served it in a restaurant in Scotland many years ago.
I just make up my own version with those ingredients sometimes add leeks. Blitz.

Sadly cheese with blue bits will not go well with one of my guests!
I'll definitely use the pear and blue cheese crisps for other guests on another occasion.
Thanks for all the ideas, I think pear and parsnip crisps will be perfect!

Does anyone remember in Bridget jones when she used blue string in her soup - comedy genious!!!!

joking aside I make home made cheese straws to go with soup and they always go down well

Lurkingandlearning · 07/11/2025 22:56

Sour cream swirl. And/ or a dark green reduction drizzled.

Raera · 07/11/2025 22:57

Genius! I have more adventurous guests soon and they will get blue soup with the pear blue cheese crisps.
Love it!!!

Such an inspired idea! Will use up great chunk of Stilton too. Does anyone have experience with a piping bag?

You don’t necessarily need to pipe it, you could just spoon it on. Very easy to pipe though you can just snip a corner of the bag or use a slightly fancier nozzle.

they are lovely as canapes too.
