Has anyone bought the M and S Extremely Chocolately Bitthday Cake and noticed the use by date?

I live in the back of beyond, I need a birthday cake ( it's for a customer not me) I've ordered the Waitrose Chocolate Birthday cake to be delivered but Im worried it will be out of stock or substituted on the day

I'm going to M and S next week. Woo hoo! It's a 90 minute drive. So I might buy their version instead but it would need to last 12 days.

I was going to make one but the ingredients alone were £18! I'd then have to charge for my time so not worth it for the customer ( or me!) I've already told the customer it will be £16 to buy the cake.

Put it in the freezer?

I'm not sure about the chocolate cake but in my experience m&s use by dates are really short. Could you ring the shop before and ask them to look and save one with the longest date for you.

I've just had a look on ocado and it says 3 days + on there so I'd be surprised if it lasted 12 days. There are other cakes with 1 week + so probably not them being overly cautious.

It's also not suitable for home freezing (I don't think the ganache would freeze well)

Try here. All the cakes can be frozen. And you can ask for a specific delivery day.

The chocolate and stout cake is amazing.
