Never made it before but could I prove the dough in my bread machine - if so, how?

Never used a bread maker but have made focaccia; the key ingredient to differentiate it from bread is olive oil so you’ll need to add a hefty glug of that. Then it’s down to rolling & stretching it to the shape of the tin you’re baking in, plus more proving. Obviously that needs to be outside of the bread machine! And in a conventional oven, as the shape is so different 😁
You’ll have to research the amendments needed to your basic bread recipe; the quantity of water may need to be altered as well as adding oil.
Flavours can be popped on the top as you choose: decent olive oil, then maybe spears of garlic stuck into the holes you poke into the dough, rosemary or other dry herbs (leafy ones will disappear), flakey salt, even chilli flakes - they need to be fairly chunky to retain their flavour & be visually interesting (no powdered spices, for example).
I’d do a test run as soon as possible, just to make sure it’s good enough 😋
