No need to cook before. I found a lovely recipe that used about five ingredients in total. It was a bbc one that I googled easy apple crumble. I didn’t add oats but was pretty much the same ingredients you used except we had extra dark sugar. Enjoy it will be delicious I bet.

I used that bbc recipe yesterday. Turned out well

Possibly too late, but I do this HFW recipie, omitting the walnuts and optional ground almonds. I also use eating apples half the time (although cooking apples are superior, imo)

Apple and Walnut Crumble - River Cottage

This crumble topping pairs beautifully with a variety of fruits, from winter rhubarb to summer gooseberries, plums, and autumn blackberries.

There's a recipe called Apple Crump which is the easiest. Cuts out all the rubbing to fine breadcrumbs effort.

I melt my butter and then add the dry ingredients. Pile on top of the stewed apples and bake. Works well.

for The last few years I’ve been using a recipe I think is Raymond Blanc? He cooks the crumble first by putting it on a shallow baking tray, and in the oven until it just starts to cook. I fork it over. I then assemble it with whatever fruit is already cooked (normally apple if I’m honest) and whack it in the oven just until it’s golden. I have rave reviews. The crumble is crisp never soggy (can’t bear soggy crumble) so I’ve never gone back to past methods. Simple ingredients no faffing. Always use the food processor to make the crumble too.

UPDATE
Thanks everyone I did a bit of a few recipes. Added oats to the crumble and also a tablespoon of lemon curd to the apples, it was gorgeous

Ooh lemon curd to the apples sounds different! I love anything lemon so might give that a whirl:)

At primary school we had lovely school meals. The cook was fab and I remember apple and lemon curd crumble and loving it so that's where it came from.
