Do you have a budget stand mixer?

I love baking but have a few health niggles that make mixing/ beating/ kneading difficult at the moment and I’m thinking of getting a stand mixer.

Obviously I’d love a Kitchen Aid but can’t justify the cost at the moment, lot of other priorities for our money right now. So looking at some of the budget options - maybe a salter?

Any recommendations?

Me too, Silvercrest brand (lidl) it’s a workhorse!

Yes to Aldi. DD got one (£30 in sales - which was a pleasant surprise as we intended to pay £45) and used it heavily. She did upgrade to a KitchenAid, after a year or so. But by that point she knew she'd be using it most days. I'd say it's an excellent starter mixer at a very low price.

And, FWIW, if I was going to buy a mixer (which I wouldn't - I have a nice KitchenAid hand mixer, £5 from a charity shop), I would be entirely happy with Aldi's offering.

Got the kenwood go stand mixer, had the kenwood go food processor but due to dexterity problems I couldn't use it that well due to the handle, so changed to the cuisine art processor. I love the stand mixer but will upgrade one day as its not that powerful but very compact

I have an aldi one that i use in work and a Kmix kenwood at home. They only difference, the Kmix looks prettier. They have them in aldi at the moment, I'm pretty sure I saw them yesterday

Aldi have the mixer in store at the moment, it was in yesterday’s special buys, my store only had two yesterday morning but you never know, there might be some left. I think it was £45.00.

My mum had a Kenwood which was a great workhorse. So a few years ago I bought one, it was terrible. I tried the dough hook, and the machine made awful noises, nearly fell off the work top, and ground to a halt. Customer service was appalling, Inhad a real fight to get them to accept that it was faulty, but eventually returned it.
I got an Andrew James stand mixer for a fraction of the price, and have used it ever since with no problems. I think Kenwood are overpriced and overrated. I have a few Andrew James gadgets, they are really good.
I've got a Lidl hand mixer, but it's so fierce it throws the mixture out of the bowl!

I have a Bosch one. The dough hook kneads bread dough and makes the lightest bread that I have ever made for myself.

I find now that I rarely use my mixer as I tend not to make things that require the use of one. However, I am keeping it for DD.

Thanks all, just back from Aldi where I managed to pick up one of the two they had left - £39.99!

I have seen some reviews that say it’s not as powerful as some others and not as good for bread dough - to be honest I do use the bread maker for bread mostly although I prefer the ‘hand made’ stuff for taste the bread maker is just easy. For the price though, even if it just makes making fairy cakes and cookies etc easier I’ll be happy.

We’ll see how I get on with it, if I don’t love it I might start saving for a bigger name and pass this on eventually. We do have the Aldi air fryer, the one that’s a dupe for the ninja, and that’s been brilliant so hopefully this will be the same!
