I hear lots of good things about Ocado and have a discount voucher - could you please let me know any recommendations to try?

Try Waitrose instead. Nothing but bad experience with Ocado.

I've just been to Tesco, there were 2 Ocado delivery vans in the car park.
Says a lot for Ocado !

Have a look at the offers section.
You can get frozen French desserts that are usually nice, or those beignets. Anything you would normally get from M&S. Crosta & Mollica pizzas (I know you can get them in lots of supermarkets). Half-price dishwsher tablets.

I very rarely have substitutions and they price-match to Tesco so you get a voucher if it comes out as more.

The app is good and it tells you when they're arriving too.

Also m&s basics like socks, kids' clothes if you need them!

What do you mean? Ocado isn't a supermarket where the workers could buy stuff off the shelves. Why wouldn't they park up in a supermarket car park to buy something?

familyissues12345 · 18/09/2025 11:45

Ocado is my go to. For years I flitted between different supermarkets for deliveries and Ocado were the one that never let me down. Always on time, rarely sub and usually always great dates.

We like the fact you can buy nice higher end products, plus basics too. M&S own brand is well priced and decent stuff.

I particularly like the meal deals that they do - pasta, pasta sauce, garlic bread etc. They’re well worth looking at. They often have random household deals on, like buy one kitchen utensil and get another free Grin

I have been with Ocado for 20 years or so. They have never put a foot wrong. I have never felt dissatisfied with the quality of their fresh products. The range of goods is amazing. If you are on a budget it may not be for you, but I have no complaints.

The Ocado drivers often use Tesco toilets. Do you really think they get to use the Ocado vans to do their own grocery shopping?! They don’t take the vans home you know….

That's a really fascinating conclusion to draw.

I use Ocado every other week or so, for years, but I also go to physical shops.

I would have thought that very few people only buy things solely from one online retailer, even if it's just buying lunch when you're working, but perhaps it's quite common.

Ineffable23 · 19/09/2025 11:28

I have been pleased with things from Picard (french frozen food supplier). They also sell stuff from Reflet de France so you can get proper French cheese etc.

Same. Also, I have tried most of the supermarkets and their delivery services over the years (including Waitrose) and the thing that keeps me with Ocado - as well as everything @Nellielephant lists, is that I so rarely get substitutions. I understand that it’s because they have a system which allows for real time checking of availability. The system is patented which is why others can’t do the same, even if they are providing the goods from a warehouse rather than stores.

FurForksSake · 19/09/2025 11:39

Picard frozen stuff is very good. Ocado baked beans and tinned stuff in general is very good. The m&s basics range is all excellent.

leon frozen bits are nice, but I imagine you can buy them elsewhere.

jason’s sourdough is often 40% off.

packington sausages are really nice as is the Edwards brand Ocado carry.

Cohen’s bagels

village bakery crumpets

mynameiscalypso · 19/09/2025 11:51

I agree with Picard - excellent and the main reason I continue to use Ocado. Some of their other fancy brands are nice too if you want a treat.

CraftyNavySeal · 19/09/2025 14:32

Barry’s tea bags

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 19/09/2025 14:54

Never had any issues with Ocado and brilliant for delivery times and customerservice. I like French brand part cooked baguettes, Jasons bread, Mutti items, Crosta Mollica range, M&S basics, Ocado frozen fruit / veg.

notnorman · 19/09/2025 15:26

They give you carrier bags too.

FurForksSake · 19/09/2025 15:32

The carrier bags is so worth it. And then you hand them back next week. Some of the totes from others look gross.

BasicBrumble · 19/09/2025 17:04

They've been incredibly reliable for me over the years. Rarely substitutions.

Not cheap... but I meal plan around that and I think if I was in a shop I'd buy more. The picard food is nice, some of the lovely M&S bits, and the Ocado basics are good too.
