Macaroni cheese topping?

I am going to be making a macaroni cheese on sunday.

Want to make a lovely crisp topping. So I will cook it in the oven and then put it under the grill for the last few minutes.

What cheeses go well with this?

I sometimes do a topping with crushed ritz crackers, but I like it just with some cheese which goes crispy in the oven.
Just make sure the roux is flavoured enough then you don’t need to add so much cheese to it because it can make it greasy.

Another vote for parmesan, breadcrumbs and crispy onions, we have a tub of them from Sainsburys. I also like crumbled haggis, but that can divide opinion....

Parmesan and ready-salted crisps. PERFECTION.
