I've just found some chocolate with a BBE 01/2012.
Not opened it yet, is it safe to eat ?

Yes. It may have a white bloom on it, but it’s harmless.

Safe - yes. Tasty - probably not (fat will have gone rancit, sugar crystalled out)

I think after all this time, though it might be safe to eat, it’s unlikely to taste good. You could look and see. It will probably have developed a bloom. This won’t make it unsafe but will affect the flavour after a while. The darker the chocolate the longer it lasts. (Disclaimer, I am not an expert). I’m a big stretcher of bbe but would be unlikely to eat this.

Thanks. It's dark chocolate, with a bloom.
I had some yesterday, it was fine, & I'm still here to tell the tale.

I found it when sorting things prior to a move, wondering what else is lurking ?
