What do you make that includes capers?

I’ve bought a jar of capers to make Chicken Piccata. I’ll use some in a fish pie or sauce for plain fish, however I’ll still have some left over. Google throws up a few ideas but I’d rather hear how you use them. Equally if you’ve tried them in something that didn’t really work, that would be useful info too. Thanks

Blitz them with olives and basil to make a pasta sauce

IsItAllMenopause · 02/09/2025 15:46

I like them in smoked salmon salad.

Myjobisridiculous · 02/09/2025 15:46

Caper butter poured on…… yum!!

FollowSpot · 02/09/2025 15:47

I am making loads of puttanesca sauce with my tomato glut.

I like them on pizza.

Or in salads.

Also in buttery lemony sauce for white fish

purplecorkheart · 02/09/2025 15:48

Oh I make a puttanesca type buttery sauce. Mainly some olives, anchovies, capers garlic and parsley in some melted butter. Poured over steak or chicken.

Arlanymor · 02/09/2025 15:50

Steak tartare - with an egg on top, mmmm! And salsa verde sauce to make chicken breasts or fish fillets a bit more exciting.

olderandnonthewiser · 02/09/2025 15:59

Make your own tartare sauce.. cheat and use mayo?

SweetPenelope · 02/09/2025 16:02

I make a baked ratatouille with capers in it. It's a Rose Elliot vegetarian recipe.

Chicken Marbella!

AdaColeman · 02/09/2025 16:56

Use them in black butter sauce for skate or monkfish.
Scatter in salads, especially with ham or salami.
Make a condiment with capers, chopped gherkins and tapenade to go with rare fillet steak.
Add to Salade Niçoise.

Cherrycola4 · 02/09/2025 16:56

Caponata. Sicilian aubergine dish. It’s lovely.

NoSuchThingAsAFreeHoliday · 02/09/2025 16:58

Caponata is delicious and easy. Also potato salad with capers is great.

Retirementbeckons · 02/09/2025 16:59

Tuna black olives capers and a tin of tomatoes

Mummabear04 · 02/09/2025 17:00

Raymond Blanc makes a delicious sauce for white fish. It's shallots, capers, white wine, lemon (maybe some chicken stock). It's delightful!

MumoftwoNC · 02/09/2025 17:36

We love capers, my kids are happy to eat them and in my book that is A Vegetable so a win. We just sprinkle them on stuff - fish cakes especially.

DiscoBob · 02/09/2025 17:52

They're good in a tuna salad with eggs.

I love them in tomato pasta or on pizza.

Mix them with chopped cornichons, mayo, yoghurt, garlic powder and lemon juice to make home made tartar sauce.

Use them with anchovies in a rub for roast lamb.

I love tartare sauce and it keeps well too, I love it with chips as well as with fish.
