Have beef stewing/casserole steaks which must be used by Sat. MIL cooked this once & it smelt scrummy (wasn't staying for dinner unfortunately) & i think i have all the right ingredients, but can't find any recipes that are simple enough (learner emoticon needed). Found one by AWT, but needs prepping & marinading overnight, and it's 10.30 now, so too damn late!!
TIA, cooking gurus x

fry onions slowly, maybe a leek too, add some garlic. Brown the meat. Add to casserole. add lots of parsley. Any root veg that you have cut into big bits and throw in now if you like (or not). Tip in some red wine, cook slow and low and long, keep looking at it, don't let it dry up. Serve with brown rice or mash mixed with cabbage - yum, i mioght make it too, now you've got me thinking. Hope it works and you can cope with approx quantities, it's impossible to spoil

Sounds lovely Yogabird Do you adding stock as well as the wine ?

yogabird · 30/05/2008 19:46

yep stock too or else it's too strong - sorry! you can cook it for many hours ie] 4-5 if you want slow and long is best cos the meat ends up so tender. Hope ou enjoy it!
