I have family I don't see often coming for main meal tomorrow eve. What can I cook?! Please tell me your crowd pleaser recipes that don't require slaving over the stove!

I should have said, they definitely require some vegetables, they've eaten beige pub food for 3 days!

Salade Niçoise....crisp lettuce, cooked cold new potatoes, tinned tuna, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, cooked cold green beans, black olives, anchovies and mayonnaise for garnish.
Or
Chicken Caesar salad.
Or
Salmon fillets poached or baked in foil, served with new potatoes, peas & asparagus.

Hardly any slaving over a hot stove at all!

.... and serve with a lovely Salad to add extra vegetables.

Lancashire hot pot, add some green veggies on the side like broccoli & green beans, easy, tasty, filling. Or something simpler likw spag bol with crusty bread.

Fruit crumble and custard for pudding.

I suggested this because it"s cold and miserable here right now so that's what I'd make, but if you're in a warmer climate you might not want to 😆

I agree with something like a traybake with veg and baby potatoes. Use chicken thighs (skin on) as they tend to be more forgiving if your guests are running late. You could always serve with some crusty bread.

Beef rendang curry...the hairy bikers recepie is amazing and once it's prepped it just simmers away for 3 hours and you don't have to do anything. Serve with bombay potatoes with spinach. Or for something a bit more rustic, homemade roasted tomato soup (could make in advance) and crusty bread, followed by homemade quiches and salad.
