How to store fresh bread?

What’s the best way? We’ve been baking bread for a while now and usually use a big Tupperware box to store it. Is there a better way? I actually have a bread maker machine coming today! I’m pretty excited.

I've been making my own bread for years and have two breadmakers :) Now a lot of the time I just use it to make dough and bake in the oven but sometimes bake in the machine as well if it's just a loaf I want.

Things like sandwich type bread simply don't stay fresh past second day regardless of what you store them in, I always slice the loaf (you need a slicer now lol) few after it's cold and put squares of parchment paper in between every two slices or even four depending on how many I am likely to use at a time and freeze it. I reuse the parchments squares many times! It takes only minutes to thaw laid on a bread board if for a sandwich, or brief toast, or microwave on defrost if really in a hurry. Basically I find any yeast bread either needs to be eaten day of or next day or then toasted unless you're fond of firmish slices of bread, some I don't actually mind like that especially the browner ones!

Things like non yeast breads, brown soda for example last better and you can get few days at least, I just keep them in a bread box, in hot weather though I pop them in the fridge in a freezer bag, they mould quickly in hot humid weather.

Dh tends to slice the loaf as soon as it has cooled, put in an old bread bag and stick it in the top of the freezer. Just take out what we need when we need it.

I would do as you are. I would be haunting charity shops to find what you have.

Otherwise, slice and freeze.

Looking for tips as well but for now, I’ve started single wrapping my rolls in tin foil which has helped in the short term!
