Cooking Pizza Dough from Frozen

I made a batch of Jamie Oliver’s easy pizza dough, and rolled the extra dough out and froze them as makeshift mini pizzas… albeit, they’ve gone a bit wonky in there and folded over themselves in places!

I plan to take the bases out tonight for tea and just add sauce and toppings and put them straight in the oven from frozen (essentially). Would this be okay? I’m mainly worried that the toppings will burn before the raw dough has a chance to cook through fully from frozen - how many times can I say that word in one post 😂

I would defrost first. I do freeze pizza dough but always defrost and pull. Also means you don’t risk a puddle or frozen middle. Dough easily defrosts on the counter over a few hours though, or put in microwave and defrost in short bursts.

Thanks so much! I pulled them from the freezer for maybe half an hour or so before cooking so not thawed but it did allow me to flatten them out a bit more again haha! It seemed to go okay but the dough did taste a bit chewy

It hadn’t occurred to me I could freeze pizza dough, I assumed it might kill the yeast? What’s the best way then?

I’m by no means an expert but I think it’s best to thaw the dough out which helps the yeast wake up if you know what I mean - but I follow some foodies on IG/tiktok who cook them straight from frozen and it still looks nice!

As I said in my other reply it did taste a bit chewy compared to when I made them fresh but still decent pizza! This cheesy garlic bread (and the pizza by it) was made using the frozen bases

This was the pizza made from fresh, so defo think they’re a load better but hoping to improve on the chewiness of the frozen bases - if anyone comes along with tips I’m also all ears!
