Watermelon…

Is it me-or is it impossible to buy a watermelon that tastes of anything any more? I’ve just bought an insanely expensive special organic crowd farmed one and it tastes no better than the cheap ones from Morrisons……

When did watermelon ever have much taste?

I bought a lovely one from aldi at the weekend and had some for lunch today it’s absolutely delicious

We get them from aldi and they're lovely!

Best ones I've found are from international supermarkets. They are very large and often sell them by the slice, so you can see the colour before buying

I agree with this. I never buy them from high street supermarkets.

You need to tap them with your hand and listen for a kind of hollow sound.
We've had some tasty ones from Tesco this year

Agree with this. It's watermelon. If you want a tasty melon (and, frankly, who doesn't?) get honeydew or whatever.

Ime the international shops are the worst places to get watermelon exactly because they cut them up.

Now mangos, on the other hand ... (season is over for this year though)

Watermelons can be hit or miss and they're too bloody big anyway. We've been working our way through one for 3 weeks now

I prefer mine with salt or olives if Im honest.

To me, watermelon has always tasted like I'd expect diesel to taste. It's never been nice.

I get the baby ones.
Delish with chopped feta cheese and mint

I bought a 'baby' one from Morrisons which was excellent, sweet and no pips. Not massive either

Or feta, rocket, pesto and lemon juice.
