Frozen prawns/cook/freeze/re-heat ????

So what I would like to know is :

Is it safe to buy frozen prawns, cook say in curry/stir fry, then freeze in meal portions, then re-heat (till scorching hot ??).

Not sure how stir fry would defrost tbh.

Surely it is a quick enough meal to do there and then?

I would only refreeze meals after cooking them with meat in them. Prawns you have to be very careful with - apart from the fact they can go very hard if overcooked.

Can you cook prawns from frozen??

I have cooked, frozen, reheated til scorching before now and am still here to tell the tale

yes.

It is not safe to re-freeze anything, especially something high risk like sea food.

But you are not re-freezing it, you have changed it from raw food to cooked food, so when you freeze it, you are actually freezing it for the first time.

You can't then defrost and re-freeze the cooked prawns though.

(and you shouldn't cook prawns from frozen, but I have done before and lived to tell the tale)

I've frozen left-over prawn curry before now. So long as its not been sitting around warm too long its not a problem. Not as nice texture maybe but OK.

Shiny - I'll take that as a yes then !
Bella - no it's not the best, but when you're in a hurry it's ok, and good wholesome food.
