We generally order ooni dough balls. They come semi frozen. You freeze them and then defrost and prove as you need them. Otherwise I make the dough - jamie oliver recipe.

I got some gluten free ones from Great Balls of Fire and they were fine. They also do regular ones which I haven’t tried. I prefer the home made GF ones though. I make a batch and freeze individually in bags. I know this isn’t what you asked but there’s a good recipe on the Ooni website.

We get frozen ones in Morrison that are great!

Sorry if you’ve thought of this but will it be safe to cook GF dough in the same oven as normal dough? My brother and his wife don’t have an ooni for this exact reason. You don’t clean the stone very often and certainly not between individual pizzas so there’d be a risk of cross contamination surely?

We use the northern dough company frozen dough (have tried all varieties and they’re all excellent so just get whatever is available). Can’t answer for GF I’m afraid.

Yes, really good point. You can buy a second stone for the Ooni and you could just use that for GF pizzas if someone is celiac. But you can’t change it while it’s hot which limits you. I choose to eat GF because of my thyroid condition and arthritis so it’s not as important. If my pizza goes on first it’s not a problem.

Gluten free pizza is a problem and I’m not sure I’ve perfected it yet. The frozen dough you can buy direct from Ooni is probably the best one, but it’s sticky and hard to get on / off the stone.

But pizza with gluten in, you can buy pizza express dough in the supermarket

I just used a bread maker to make the dough. I follow the recipe that came with the machine or occasionally the one on the ooni website. Just throw the ingredients in and 40 mins later perfect dough. I picked up the bread maker second made for about £20

Thank you. This is a good point. I must get a 2nd stone!! But for now DH prepared the GF pizza first and it works well.

only problem is his own GF pizza base tastes crap!!!! So. Am def going to buy pre made until he can perfect that recipe!!!!

The best GF dough balls I have had were at Pizza Express. Light and fluffy rather than chewy bread, but delicious. I wonder whether they're available frozen?

NeverTrustTheScales · 14/07/2025 17:53

East pizzas are great, the come ready rolled and frozen, not sure if they have a GF but I would expect so

Our local baker keeps frozen dough for sale, it’s made by him. Try your local places?
