Vegetarian and need to lose weight - can anyone direct me to an idiot proof diet plan...?

That thing about the weight dropping off when you breast feed? Doesn't work for me!! Time to stop eating for 2 I guess. So, I was wondering and hoping, can anyone recommend an online diet resource of some kind for a veggie...? I've read a diet plan from Tescos and from iVillage and they would both involve buying half a vegetable stall a week as well as a ridiculous amount of sundries...I need something sensible and practical (and affordable) to help me since I'm in need of inspiration if I am ever to shift the pounds.

And veggie bashers need not helpfully suggest meat pies thanks all the same! Heard it all before....

I would recommend slimming world. It's ridiculously easy to follow - and it's completely wrong that you can eat so much and lose weight. As a veggie you just have green days every day and just keep eating....

I did once buy the Rose Elliot Vegetarian Low-Carb Diet book - although never actually did anything with it!! I think it's a kind of Atkins diet for veggies - might be worth a look.

I have a Rose Elliot book called "Vegetarian Slimming" which is quite sensible and shows you how to adapt when cooking for a family etc.

Research has shown that if you start meals with a bowl of vegetable soup, you eat less overall. You could make a batch on a Sunday afternoon and it would last for several days in the fridge.

Lentils are cheap, nutritious and healthy, as are chick peas etc.

I don't know any online resources though sorry.

really cutting down on pasta does it for me.....

i'm also veggie and trying to loose my baby pounds.....

typical food for me....(not all at once lol)

muesli
wholemeal bread rolls with cheese/chickpea spread
beans on toast
salad - loving with avocado, low fat feta, peppers, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, a little potato - and balsamic/olive oil dressing
also loving fresh corn on the cob....
homemade veg and lentil soup with lots of lovely cumin
spinach and rice

I just try to eat loads of fresh stuff in as many colours a day

I try to limit choc/ cake etc to the weekends and try not to eat my toddlers left overs....

good luck

Thanks everyone for your ideas/thoughts ...yes sannie, eating the leftovers is one of my many errors too! As are the biscuits (and wine!) of course, but I find I'm so flipping hungry all the time and crave stodgy sugary things (blame the BFing) ...but I do realise that I just need to accept I've got to cut those out . More than that tho I also need to rethink what we eat generally hence the request...I get bored of eating the same stuff, so will check out the various suggestions here and see what they suggest.
