American baking powder

I'm a novice. Forgive me. Following a keto guy and he uses baking powder - is this the same as baking powder in the UK? I've googled but seem to get so many different answers.

Yes, baking powder is the same.
Baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) is different to baking powder tho.
