Fruit salad and chopped up veggies/ lightly steamed ones cold

Pitta breads with hummous/ other filling

or rice/ pasta salad

some flapjack or other cookie or cake.

my mum always made cornish pasties for long car trips. Then we'd stop somewhere in the country and eat them wrapped in cloth napkins, with salt and pepper and a little pot of mustard. Those where the days!

I, being somewhat lazier than my mum, would do sandwitches and a tub of salad and crisps!

Mum was doing a picnic breakfast for the car once and asked us what we'd like. We thought we were hilarious asking for bacon & eggs. And the delight at opening our breakfast boxes in the car the next morning to fing hard boiled eggs and packets of frazzles was amazing
