Did you not get a diet sheet from the hospital?
Tbh noodles, lollies and yogurts all sound ok to carry on with as long as no bits in the yoghurt.

Yes I did, just says what he can and can’t have. I’m looking for ideas for meals, as I can’t think of anything except chicken and mash. Pasta isn’t allowed, I would have thought noodles would fall under that? Will have to google

Iv had multiple colonoscopies never bothered with any of that stuff and just did the prep the day before and iv always been complemented on how clean my colon is. Follow it if you want but don't stress over it as it won't matter if its not exact

We were told pasta was fine as long as it was white pasta, instructions must be different by district.

This is interesting. DH had to go in twice as the first time the view wasn't great. He followed the instructions to the letter and then some.

Second time he took senna for the whole week beforehand and stopped eating 12 hours before he needed to even and STILL wasn't clear.

There must be a lot of natural variation by individual! I suppose you won't know which you are until you do it.

Yeah thats weird if he's doing everything plus more their must be something else going on for that to happen. It's also like iv never felt anything but mild discomfort from a colonoscopy and never had sedation or gas and air I think i must just have a really basic less twisty colon as im quite whimpy in general with pain.

Apparently the medical staff said it happened sometimes. Any issues were ruled out so if there is something wrong with him we still dont know.

I'm a colonoscopy regular.

Mashed potato (peeled pots) with butter (and cheese.) with gravy and chicken breast/roast chicken

White fish with rice

Cheese on toast with ketchup

Omelette

Eggs on toast

Macaroni cheese

Oh and slather your bum with sudocrem or Vaseline BEFORE you take the laxatives. It's tapped you getting nappy rash 😳

Forgottenmyphone · 21/06/2025 19:03

We were given this which is a lot more helpful that what you got, as there are some meal and snack ideas too https://elht.nhs.uk/application/files/3315/8556/0327/DIET-002-LowFibrelowresiduediet-2019.pdf

My best (re)discovery during colonoscopy prep was rich tea biscuits. They are now my go to whenever I’m feeling ill.

wankynamechange · 24/06/2025 18:22

Ohh he’s loving the rich tea biscuits. Not keen on only drinking water. Thursday will be a nightmare. No food all day and has to drink the picolax in the morning and evening. Feel so sorry for the poor boy
