3kg golden syrup to use up!

As the title says...leftover from a baking event we've adopted 3kg golden syrup! Apart from flapjacks and syrup sponge pudding (although if anyone has a recipe for one that doesn't need to be boiled for hours I'd be interested...) does anyone have any wonderful ideas? Thank you!

My mum makes a golden syrup sponge cake...literally covers the bottom of a Pyrex dish with golden syrup, whips up normal sponge cake batter, pours the mix over and then bakes it as a normal cake. It's quick and her go- to if someone just turns up and she needs a pudding

Treacle tart? BBC good food has a recipe. Won’t use all of it, but 400gms! Yum…

Bloody love that, esp with added cornflakes! 😋

Mine does the same, she uses the same ounces of flour, sugar etc, I forget the number, 4 or 6; she knows the recipe off the top of her head. It is really consistent, one time she added tinned pineapple rings in the bottom, they caramelised in the syrup and made a sort of pineapple upside down cake.

It will never go off so I wouldn’t rush to use it up necessarily. However golden syrup microwave steam pudding is my favourite.

golden syrup in the bottom of a microwaveable bowl
top with cake mixture
microwave for about 6 mins.

just make sure to use a bowl with enough headspace for rising .

You can freeze it!

I'd separate it into smaller portions though and advertise it to friends and family or on your local Fb pages etc - it's a lot!

Lots of ideas here:

Why freeze something that doesn’t go off?

Absolutely no rush, golden syrup lasts for ever. I’d recommend it spread on digestive biscuits. Delicious.
