Anybody got a fab eating on a budget cook book?????????

Pref one with recipes that the kids will eat.

Will be digging out my old "Grub on a Grant"book. However not sure what the dc will think of Butterbeans in Cheese and Yogurt et al so wondered if there are any others out there.

sorry no book that is specifically for budget cooking.
But.. when we are having a tight month we eat a lot of jacket spuds with beans, big filling pasta dishes with passata based sauce spiced up with whatever veggies are on offer. We go veggie as I hate cheap meat cuts, rice, noodles and pasta fill us up and lower fat!!
Also I do that thing where I turn up at the supermarket half an hour before closing on a Sunday and buy loads of meals at a fraction of the cost. Bigger quantities and freeze is always time and money saving.
Rather than buying the occasional choc bar as a treat for the kids or me, I keep a big bag of popping corn in the cupboard. Makes tons and tons from one bag that cost less than a quid.
I buy rice by the sack from an asian shop - saves a fortune. Same with spices. Also, I get a sack of spuds from the farm rather than pay a quid for 4 in a tray from Tescos. I split the cost and bag with my sister. Stored in the garage they keep for ages.

any book from the fifties should cover it.

good honest cheap cooking.

if you don't want anything too indepth, I'd recommend some student cookbooks on amazon. I got one to start me cooking from scratch, but mostly are nice easy recipes and of course cheap.
