I’m thinking of buying an air fryer mainly for reasons of cost and health. Are they more cost effective / healthier and could you recommend please for a small family, thanks.

They aren’t “healthier”, they are very small convection ovens. They don’t fry. They do heat up very quickly so use less electricity.

I think they are healthier in the fact that I never use any oils in them.

They are much cheaper to use because they heat up faster and a smaller area.

I would invest in a decent one as the cheap one we had before our Ninja was absolutely crap.

Honestly it's a glorified table top fan oven. Takes just as long to cook most things as an oven as far as I've seen

Definitely doesn’t, at the very least you need to take 10% off the oven cooking time. My one with a meat probe can do a whole chicken in about 40 mins.
