Very out of date. October last year! It's been sitting untouched at the back of the fridge, The tub does not bulge at all.

Dare I...?

I wouldn't! 🤢

Reallybadidea · 09/04/2025 15:17

God, I've used cream a week or two out of date but 6 months is really pushing it Shock

SoftPillow · 09/04/2025 15:17

I wouldn’t but I’m secretly hoping that you do so that you can report back 😁

Yea same 😂

I'm queen of ignoring the date label.
And is the cream is pasteurised, it's probably low risk of your fridge is cold enough.

But no. Not even I would consider the 6-month cream.

Treat yourself to a new pot.

ScratchyMcScratchface · 09/04/2025 15:20

You will be sick as a pig if you eat that. Have you opened it? I would have thought that it would look weird and smell disgusting. Photo please

ConiferBat · 09/04/2025 15:20

I recon once opened it will either be half water & solidified cream or, maybe slide out on one big clot.

SnugNightsss · 09/04/2025 15:21

It’s obvious when cream is off by the taste initially then the smell when it’s really off. So it’ll be obvious when you open it, because it will definitely be off!

Dilbertian · 09/04/2025 15:54

I'll give it another week at the back of the fridge before I explore it. Big family dinner on Saturday which I don't want to risk missing.

Maybe I should move it to the cheese drawer 😂

Careful it doesn’t walk out of there itself and attack you while you are sleeping

Saveafun · 09/04/2025 15:59

I have used very out of date cream. If it's off it won't harm you, only taste awful, so you'll know.

That said....October!!

Funnywonder · 09/04/2025 16:01

Just your normal run of the mill cream? Not some sort of UHT or (shudder) Elmlea? Not in a million years! I have opened cream a couple of days after the date and it was rancid. I’d be calling in the bloody bomb squad for one that’s months out of date😬

marylou25 · 09/04/2025 16:50

I'm easygoing about dates but even that is way out of bounds for me! Open it anyway for the craic so we get to see what it is actually like! Not a hope it's edible as actual cream, if bychance your fridge is extremely cold it may have practically frozen it the way some heads of lettuce do when they are too close to the back wall, hate that, if it's not altogether manky and has been frozen then I'd chance making scones or something with it. But I suspect it will be good for nothing at this stage.

Or probably not!

xsquared · 09/04/2025 19:01

I'm surprised it hasn't exploded in the fridge already!
