what kind?

Quick and easy ones you can roll out and cut with cutters:
2oz sugar
4oz butter
6oz flour
handful of choc chips
cream marg & sugar, stir in flour and choc, knead, roll out, cut out, 10min gas 4.

soft ones like you buy in the supermarket - take much longer though:
300g plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon fine salt
170g unsalted butter, melted
215g soft light brown sugar
120g granulated white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
300g or so choc chips

Sift together flour, bicarb and salt.
Mix melted butter, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla. Add egg and yolk and beat well.

Stir in dry ingredients and choc chips.
Cover with clingfilm and chill dough until firm ie at least 30 minutes.

Drop spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet, gas 5 10-12 minutes or only until the edges begin to turn golden.
