More on Sausages! I want to make fancy sausage rolls for a party on Sunday

I love a sausage roll but I like to trick them up a bit, make them a tad different from the norm.

Now, I realise you can make your own filling so they're tasty & "different" but on this occasion I won't have much time. I'll be using bought puff pastry.

Ones I've made before use 'vienna frankfurts'. They have dark red skins and a great snap when cooked. I'm in Oz, not sure if they're in UK supermarkets?

I cover the flat puff pastry with hot mustard & cheddar cheese before rolling up with the frankfurts. They're delicious, but the birthday woman (who's turning 70, so a big birthday, lots of people coming) has had these before & I feel the need for something different!

I've got all ingredients for the above & could maybe get to the shops tomorrow. Does anyone have a good recipe/idea for me?

I add grated apple, carrot, cheese, herbs and a squirt of bbq sauce to mixed pork and beef mince. They are requested at every party! In fact I am making some today for Sunday’s Derby (also in Oz😁)

These are the ones I am making tonight. Someone made them for a pot luck dinner I went to and everyone loved them so it’s become one of our regular dinners.

Thanks all! I've made half my frankfurter ones and half of @Passwordsaremynemesis ones with apple etc but not carrot. They're delicious! And dipping sauce made from hot mustard & pickled cucumbers instead of ketchup. Looking forward to it 😃
