When my new man met me on the second date, he wowed me with cake. Cake has become a bit of a thing within the relationship.

We would like to find the best cake in the UK, Europe and worldwide. We like light sponges, all different flavours. Friday’s was coconut and pistachio.

Please can you recommend your best bakeries for cakes, please 😁

Bloomin heck OP you’ve only been with him for a couple of weeks…. Just focus on the cake shops local to you rather than Europe and worldwide!

It’s a discussion, we both enjoy cake and would like to hear about the best places for cake 🤷‍♀️

You need to go to Vienna. They literally have cake and dessert tours for tourists.

But now I'm thinking about it, all the German and Eastern European countries have amazing cakes. Google "konditorei" in any city you fancy visiting in Germany or Austria and you'll find the best cakes ever.

In fact there are a couple in London too - Kipferl in Camden Passage, and Konditor which has a few branches around town.

Also also if you like light sponge with fruit and cream, check out the Hong Kong style bakeries - Chinatown Bakery in Chinatown, and 404 Bakery in Hammersmith.

So many good ones in London. The famous ones for cake are Cutter & Squidge, The Hummingbird Bakery and Crumbs and Doilies. For something a bit novel, Kova Patisserie does mille crepe cakes in all different flavours.

There's also a lot of tourist cafes selling very poor, frozen sachertorte.
