Quiche and salad
Soup and crusty bread
Baked potatoes
Bagels with toppings M&S do an amazing New York deli dip that is lovely on them or the chicken Caesar one

Can't you do sandwiches and fruit for grown ups as well? I would probably do soup because I eccentrically LOVE making soup but don't particularly like eating it so any excuse....

I'd probably do a fritata with a couple of salads. Or if you are doing sandwiches for the kids I might just do a selection of more interestingly filled sandwiches, wraps or baguettes for the adults.
Or make it more like a ploughman's with a french stick, a couple of cheeses, pickled onions, grapes, chutney, homemade coleslaw etc
