Airfryer steak

Hi - has anyone cooked a steak in an air fryer? Any tips? TIA.

I thought it would be perfect as I use my air fryer regularly, and it cooks fish very well, but the steak was just tough and cooked through, and didn't get a good colour.

Thanks - just had my induction hob replaced and new one does not get very hot - not hot enough to sear a steak. I might try heating my pizza stone under the grill to get right hot, then whacking the steaks on that.

I always cook steak in the air fryer now, just keep an eye on it and turn it regularly. It stops the house from stinking of steak too!

Thanks - do you put any rubs on it? Or just season it and put it in on the hottest setting?

I just season it and put it on the highest air fryer setting

I make a seasoned oil up then brush over the steak then when I turn midway through cooking brush on again

I probably didn't have the temp up high enough on mine given the other comments.

If your hob is not hot enough, have you got a barbecue? We tend to use ours for steak (and it also stops the kitchen getting smoked out).

If the job is not hot enough can it boil things?
It needs to get hotter to boil than it does to sear a steak

Steak is the only reason I've still got my George Forman grill.

I love my air fryer to bits, in fact if my DH, my air fryer and I were ever shipwrecked, I know which one I'd save! 😂🤣

BUT steak is about the only thing I won't cook in it.

I've given it a few goes but it's always been much nicer on the frying pan.
