Things to put in a pie...

I have a very odd collections of leftovers after a complicated cooking weekend. I have a small lamb steak. Some shortcrust pastry. Some pine nuts and some fresh mint. I want to make a pie, and I was thinking of some Middle Eastern type spices. But I need to bulk out the lamb a bit. I usually use potatoes, but not sure about it with the other ingredients. What else would go in a pie. I have a pretty extensive dry goods store. Or should I just go with the potatoes?

You could do it with rice? https://realgreekrecipes.com/lamb-pie/

I'd go with potatoes. Maybe a bit of harissa, and possibly some carrot and onion to bulk?

Do you have any sweet potatoes or better still butternut squash, some apricots go lovely with lamb.

I would dice the meat and fry off with some onion, butternut/sweet potato add some spices, Ras el Hanout cummin etc maybe some diced peppers celery tomatoes if you have any, chick peas or lentils if you have a tin ? Squeeze of honey pine nuts , it sounds rather good

Have you any leeks?

I'd consider beans. A white tinned bean like a butterbean or a cannelini bean. Or chickpeas Pretty classic mediterranean, goes well with lamb and pine nuts etc.
