Queen of puddings - worth it?

So I was going to try this recipe, but it does seem a bit labour intensive

Are QOP's worth it? I've never eaten one myself

I know looking at it that it wouldn't be my cup of tea. I don't like moist meringue on things, rather than as a crunchy side. Do you like desserts like this?

I'd make Eton mess which I know I like!

I’ve never had it but it looks like a cross between trifle and bread and butter pudding with meringue on top.

It doesn’t look overly laborious. It’s the type of thing where you fiddle for five minutes, do something else for a while, come back to fiddle for five minutes, go and do something else and repeat.

I can’t see a reason why it shouldn’t be lovely.

I'm familiar with this from an old war era cookery book. It's amazing! Totally comfort food. It's easy to make and for me the meringue is decorative, not hugely important. You'll love it if you like old puddings like semolina and rice pudding, which I do

It’s one of my favourites. It’s not that fiddly really.

Here's a mention of it on Facebook and this is the recipe I use:

St Delia also has a recipe.

It is sublime and simple.

Such a lovely pud. I really recommend it. The base is almost custardy in taste though stiffer in texture because of the breadcrumbs. The sweet soft meringue complements it all. Delicious.

Thanks everyone
