Beef enchiladas, tacos, sticky beef stirfry, fried rice, beef and mushroom pie

Also, burgers! We had burgers last night that I had made a week ago and frozen. Minced beef, some breadcrumbs, salt & pepper, onion and garlic granules, tomato puree and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. I made them wide but not too thick. Fried in no time and were really delish! In buns with fried onions and a side salad.

I have a few bugers in freezer already but I like this idea

Savoury mince and dumplings.

Delia's macaroni pie is a tasty variation on lasagne

Mega meatloaf

I make mousakka with mince lamb

Ive used beef mince in place of chicken breast when doing Kung Pao (packet sauce) for my dd when we have spaghetti Bol as she doesn't like it

Mega meatloaf | Jamie Oliver recipes

With beautifully tender meat, oozy cheese and the most outrageous tomato sauce, this meatloaf is sure to become a firm family favourite.

My mum always used plates to make pies. As long as you have a plate with a bit of a rim around the edge you can put a layer of pastry down, filling, then a nice rounded pastry lid, use a fork and egg wash to squish down the edges and seal it in then bake.

You could
Make Cornish pasty shaped pies if you don't have a pie dish

Wouldn't you need a enamel or pyrex plate though, or some kind of ovenproof material? An ordinary plate would crack wouldn't it.

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/02/2025 13:17

@ginasevern no, any plate has always done the job and never had any crack. I'm not a frequent maker of pies but have done this for apple pies a good few times over the years without issue.

Thanks. I had no idea and wouldn't have been brave enough to try.
