Spicy bean burgers: makes about 6

1 can of kidney beans drained
Half an onion chopped
Half a green pepper diced
About 3oz of grated cheddar cheese
About 4 oz breadcrumbs
Some cumin and chilli powder or curry powder
A squirt of tomato puree or ketchup
salt and pepper

Mash the kidney beans until the consistency resembles thick mashed potato, there should still be a few lumps. Mix in the remaining ingredients but save enough breadcrumbs for coating. If the mixture is too moist then add more breadcrumbs or cheese if too dry then add more tomato. Shape the mixture into rounds and cover with the crumbs.

Shallow fry until brown on both sides.

I just opened this topic to ask the same question
Your recipe sound nice Boogiewoogie, have you tried cooking them in the oven? Or has anyone got a recipe that can be oven cooked rather than fried?
Sorry for the hi-jack peachy, but didn't think you'd mind

Haven't tried cooking them in the oven I'm afraid. I'm sure that if you froze them then oven cooked them then it might be okay.

It would be fine in the oven. Just make sure to handle carefully. Cook at high heat for less time rather than visa versa

Sosmix also works well in the oven.
